Business Analysis and Project Recommendations

Our business analysis services are focused upon identifying and prioritizing your requirements, understanding your business processes, mapping issues to solutions, and estimating new system complexity and cost to implement.

Investigation and Diagnostic - Interviews and the facility tours are used to gather information and provide an in-depth understanding of the organization, issues and constraints, and manufacturing processes. This forms the basis for identification of key areas where improvements in people, process, or technology will have a significant impact.

Our diagnostic approach was originally developed to improve small business performance in aerospace manufacturing.  It is unique, simple, and it works

Once a list of issues is identified, a standardized set of logical “trees” is used to categorize the issues, identify the cause of the condition, and point to a solution.  There may be multiple causes that result in a particular condition – therefore multiple solutions may be possible.

This diagnostic process is represented in the graphic below:

Our structured questioning and observation during analysis, uncover problematic conditions, and our solution matrix provides us with a focus on the root cause as well as recommendations for solving issues.

Prioritizing Recommedations - Prioritization includes ranking projects based on their potential business benefit and complexity. The goal is to maximize business benefit while minimizing implementation complexity.

We consider four main factors during the prioritization stage:

-       Your business priorities (objectives and scope, opportunities, and internal and external influences)

-       Timeframe (windows of opportunity, seasonality of your business, current projects underway)

-       Project and program cost (budget constraints, resource usage, project cost, expected return)

-       Technology issues (technology fit, risks associated with new or complex technology, personnel)

Our prioritization process separates required or desired functionality into phases where the highest priority functions are implemented first, and the remaining functions are moved into future phases.

Prioritization and phasing projects enables our clients to achieve business benefit as early as possible and deliver the “biggest bang for the buck”.
